What is the Flowflex™ COVID-19 Antigen Home Test?

The Flowflex™ COVID-19 Antigen Home Test is a rapid, reliable at-home test for detecting COVID-19, including the Omicron variant. The test is intended for self-testing, non-prescriptive use, meaning you can safely use it at home without a nurse’s help.

Who can use this test?

This test is authorized for nonprescription home use with self-collected (unobserved) direct anterior nasal (NS) swab specimens from individuals aged 14 years and older or with adult-collected anterior NS samples from individuals aged 2 years or older.

The Flowflex™COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Test was part of an independent validation study by the University of Geneva, which compared 7 EU approved antigen test kits on their sensitivity to the Omicron variant. The study found Flowflex™COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Test to be the most accurate antigen test for the Omicron and Delta variant out of those analysed. The study compared the sensitivity and specificity of the 7 test kits, and was supported by the Swiss National Science Foundation and the Foundation for Innovative New Diagnostics (centre collaborating with WHO).

Why should I get tested?

Knowing whether you have COVID-19 can help you prevent the spread of the virus and ensure you are getting the proper care. It also gives you an opportunity to inform those you have been in close contact with, so they may also be tested. Some individuals who contract COVID-19 are asymptomatic and may not be aware they have it, meaning that they are potential carriers who can pass the virus on to others. COVID-19 is known to share many symptoms with the flu, the common cold, or allergies, so it is important to know as the actual disease may be masked by its symptoms.

How often should I get tested?

According to the CDC you may follow the recommendations below:

If you have any COVID-19 symptoms, you should get tested immediatel
If you were exposed to someone with COVID-19, test yourself at least 5 days after your exposure. If you test negative for COVID-19, consider testing again 1 to 2 days after your first test.
If you are going to an indoor event or a gathering, test yourself immediately before the gathering, or as close to the time of the event as possible.

Keep in mind that the testing results are only applicable to you at the point of testing. If you are practising social distancing and deemed low risk, you may not need to be tested frequently.

Where can I buy the test?

You can buy the Flowflex™ COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Test online at projectscreen.co, in-store at our Circle Stores, and also at CitySuper, Watsons, Mannings, and at HKTVMall.

How fast can you get a result?

The results are available in 15 minutes with a simple nasal swab. We advise you to set a timer to read the results at 15 minutes. Do not read results before 15 minutes or after 30 minutes is up, as they may not be accurate.

What does it mean if I have a positive test result?

A positive test result means that antigens from COVID-19 were detected in your sample and it is very likely you currently have COVID-19. If you receive a positive test result, the Hong Kong government recommends further nucleic acid testing (PCR test) for confirmation. While awaiting further testing, you should take personal protective measures and stay home as far as practicable. However, if you are experiencing severe symptoms you should consult a healthcare provider immediately. Learn more here.

Important Note: The chance that this test gives you a false-positive result is very small, meaning you should seek medical attention even if you think there might be a mistake.

What if I have an invalid result?

An invalid test result is likely due to two reasons:

Not enough specimen volume was collected.
Incorrect test operation.

When this happens, please review the instructions again and repeat the test with a new cassette. If in doubt, please seek help from your healthcare provider.

What is the difference between Antigen, PCR, and Circle HealthPod tests?

Antigen, PCR, and Circle HealthPod are different test options to detect COVID-19.

Antigen tests, such as the Flowflex™ COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Test, look for protein on the surface of the virus inside nasal samples. Antigen tests are more affordable, can be used at-home and can be used for mass screening of individuals.
PCR tests are molecular tests that detect genetic material inside the virus at a laboratory on a molecular level. This allows for more accurate early detection of the virus. PCR tests are more expensive and require a visit to a testing centre.
Circle HealthPod is a molecular test that you can perform at home for self-testing to deliver PCR-quality results. This allows for more accurate early detection of the virus. Molecular at-home tests are more expensive and require a device at-home.

What is the difference between Antigen and Antibody tests?

An antigen test, such as the Flowflex™ COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Test, is used to detect an active COVID-19 infection. It works by looking for proteins on the surface of the virus inside nasal samples.
An antibody test, which is usually a blood test, identifies how many antibodies your immune system has produced to fight against COVID-19, due to a previous COVID-19 infection or vaccination. This indicates you may have immunity against COVID-19. However, antibody tests are not suitable for diagnosing an active COVID-19 infection.

Are there any limitations as to who can use this test?

This test is authorised for non-prescription, home-use for individuals aged 14 and older. If the individual is between 2 to 14 years old, the nasal swab must be performed by an adult.

CAUTION:
- Do not use this test on children under 2 years of age.
- Do not use this test on anyone who is prone to nosebleeds.
- Do not use this test on anyone who has had facial injuries, head injuries or surgery in the past six months.

Will the Flowflex™test work if I do not have COVID-19 symptoms?

Yes, the test can also detect asymptomatic COVID-19 cases. If you have any reasons to suspect a COVID-19 infection, you can take this quick test to confirm.

Where do you ship and how long does delivery take?
